It seemed like it was just an ordinary summer morning, sunny outside and about 85 degrees with a bit of breeze every once and a while. But it was no ordinary day, the date was July 21st, but at the time it was known as launch day. It was the day that a team of american astronauts would leave our solar system. The leader of the expedition was captain Hank Rigshaw. Hank had had lots of previous experience with space travel, he had already led his crew to every planet in our solar system. Although the other planets were new and exciting life had yet to be found. And Hank felt like before he died he needed to see life somewhere other than earth, and he was convinced that there must be life on other planets.
When Hank wok up that morning he acted as if it were any other morning. His robot Jeffrey had prepared his morning toast and coffee for him, and he ate and read the digital newspaper next to his wife at their kitchen table. Although Hank appeared to not be scared or nervous his wife was exactly the opposite.
"Im worried Hank, your getting to old for all this space travel." Hanks wife Karen told him.
" You need to stop worrying about it, ill be fine, and i promise this will be my last mission ever." Hank responded.
"I wish i could convince you not to go, but i know your too stubborn to change your mind." she said.
"You know me to well." Hank said to his wife as he put his shoes on and prepared to leave.
"Just promise me you will come back ok, and you will stay safe." Karen said.
"I promise, now goodbye, ill see you as soon as i get home." Hank said as he opened the front door."
"Goodbye, and good luck." Karen said.
Hank opened the door of his brand new 2094 Honda Civic, and sat down and started thje engine. The car did the rest for him and hovered above the ground as it proceeded to the space staiotion where Hank worked. Hank entered the space station and Hanks secretary Jillian had his cup of coffee waiting on the table for him. Hank picked up the coffee and made his way to the launch pad like he had many times before.
"You ready buddy?" Hanks co captain, and best friend said to him excitedly.
"Ready as ill ever be Tommy." Hank answered.
Hank and Tom met up with the other members of the crew before getting geared up for their launch.
It was 11:36, the launch was scheduled for exactly 12:00. The crew did some last minute mechanical checks before taking their seats inside the space shuttle. A large computer screen lit up in front of the crew, and their boss,Bill appeared before them.
"you gentlemen are the finest astronauts we have, i hope all of you are ready to go. This launch, and last launch for some of you gentlemen will make us all famous, it will be a history making launch. But remember to first before anything when you arrive to Goliath first complete the object." Bill Said sternly.
"Yes sir." the crew said.
"Alright boys, its launch time." Bill said.
"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5..." the computers voice echoed, and Hank and Tom looked at each other, and nodded.
"4, 3, 2, 1, 0... We have a launch." The computers voice said.
The enourmous ship was lifeted into the air, as smoke and fire came down from below it. The ship zoomed away from the earth moving much faster than light speed, and now earth was already seemingly far away.
"Next stop, Goliath." Hank said to his crew.
Goliath was the name of the planet the crew was headed to, which was an ironic name, because Goliath would be the smallest planet they had ever encountered.
Hank was using some kind of super high tech gps to navigate through the universe as the moved closer to their destination. Unfortunatley for the crew the next couple weeks and months would be the same boring routine. They would take shifts working on the ship, and when they werent working they were sleeping. They ate canned and boxed food, which not much flavor or variety. This went on for what seemed like an eternity to the crew.
But nearly a year of almost misery to the crew, Goliath was finally in their sights. The ship hovered over the planet, but it was producing so much gas, the crew couldn't even see out of it. The shipo landed and came to a sudden hault.
"Everbody remember stick to our primary objective." Hank ordered his crew.
The crew gathered their weapons, and ws ready to step foot on Goliath. The men slowly and carefully walked off the ship and and look around but couldnt see anything for there was still dust and gas as far as the eye could see. But they heard a noise like some kind of metal ball of some sort was rolling towards them. They all stoped and didnt make a noise. They then heard a hissing, and an orange gas sprayed around them. The members of the crew all fell and were knocked unconscious after breathing in the gas, for they had forgotten their most important piece of equipment, their helmets.
The next day the crew woke up. It was hot, there was nothing around them but a steel fence, and dessert for miles. They were locked, and there was no escape.
The men all yelled and screamed for help, but nobody could save them now.
