Its been a while since i have done a normal blog, because last blog was that essay thing when we had to do 3 paragraphs. But we have been doing that human rights stuff, and we have been reading a bunch of stories and exerts from books, and watching a lot of movies. This is  a pretty good unit in my opinion. I dont mind reading every once and a while and i like watching movies. The great debaters was a good movie. I also i like reading the stuff about the holocaust, just because i find it really interesting. And the movie we watched life is beutifiil was good, i had alalready seen it, but it hgad been a while. I wonder if that was a true story, because it kind of seemed like it might have been but im not sure. And then a couple days ago we stared doing the things in groups when we read the articles about gays today. My group had military, and it was a pretty good article. So hopefully the rest of the week goes by fast and is fun. This concludes my blog.

night john mascot great debaters blog

1. Nightjohn
Basically to summarize night john.... Sarny finds a penny and has to hide it because the slaves aren't allowed to have money. The slaves are also not allowed to learn anything educational. Nightjohn is brought by Waller, he is in bad condition. He asks the people for tobacco, Sarny gives him tobacco in exchange for reading and writing lessons. He taught Sarny a few letters, and a few numbers. Mammy catches Sarny writing in the dirt, she smacks her in the head, and tells her she is not allowed to do it anymore. She tells nightjohn not to teach her, or at least not get caught teaching her. Alice is made into a breeder, and is whipped horribly. The next day Alice runs away, she does not make it far, and hides under some Brussels. The dogs get to here and chew her up good, but she does not die. Mammy sews her up to her best abilities. Nightjohn tells Sarny and Mammy how he ran escaped from slavery and made it to the North and was free, but he came back to slavery so he could teach other slaves how to read and write.

2. Mascot
To summarize Mascot....
Malcolm's older brother Philbert is a great boxer. Malcom wanted to be a great boxer just like Philbert, so he gets a fight. His whole family watches and he gets destroyed by Bill Peterson. He is humiliated. He trains for a long time and gets a rematch with Bill, and losses just as badly. Malcolm doesn't box again. Malcolm is expelled from his school, and he is sent to boarding school. He works hard at the boarding school, and all the people there like him very much. Malcolm really likes it at the school. He eventually leaves the school and attends Mason Junior High School. He was popular at his school, and he liked the teachers and students there. In 7th grade, he was elected class president, his family and all his friends were extremely proud of him, and he was very proud of himself. His grades were among the highest in his class. His sister Ella comes home, and she takes Malcolm and all of the "littles" to Kalamazoo to see their mother. Their mother was very surprised to see them all, but she was also very happy. Malcolm spends the summer of 1940 in boston with Ella. He saw things he had never seen before in Boston, like black and white couples, and churches for black people. Back at home in school Malcolm told R. Ostrowski that he wanted to be a lawyer, and the teacher told him to be realistic, and he couldnt be a lawyer because he was black.

3. The Great Debaters
To compare and contrast great debaters and nightjohn and mascot....
Well first of all nightjohn comes long before mascot and great debaters. But great debaters and mascot are right around the same time, its when black people had, had their freedom for a long time, but were still descriminated against. But in great debaters they are discriminated against more than they are in mascot, because they are in the south. For example in mascot black people weren't treated equal, but they weren't discriminated as badly as in great debaters. Like in great debaters, you see a black person who was burned and hung. And also the main character is sent to jail, even though he didn't do anything wrong. And then in Nightjohn the African American people did not even have freedom yet. And it didnt exactly say a time period, but it appeared to be before the civil war, so black people would not gain freedom for a long time. Which makes it take place much before mascot and great debaters. To compare great debaters and mascot, the biggest comparison is that Malcolm wanted to be a lawyer, and the main girl character in great debaters ended up becoming a lawyer. To contrast great debaters and mascot with nightjohn further... In nightjohn none of the black people even knew how to read, but in mascot and great debaters, they could read,write, and attended school and college, and learned so much more. This is how i compare and contrast Nightjohn with mascot, with The Great Debaters.

Well i almost forgot to do this weeks blog, but thankfully i remembered. Right now im not in the best mood, because im losing weight for wrestling, so i havent eaten anything but a little bit of vegetables in a while. And im just really hungry, and tired from trying to lose the weight. But luckily after i weigh in on tuesday, i wont have to lose any more weight until december. But im also pretty happy because my teams won this weekend, so its all good. Well last week was a pretty good week in english class. We started the new subject, and the 2 short stories we read were pretty good. And so far the movie great debaters is pretty good. I like it because its actually like a real movie insted of a lot of the movies i watch in school. But i have something to look forward to eighth period i guess tomorrow. Im excited for a two day week, but unfortunately i procrastinate way to much and i have 3 projects due tuesday that i haven't worked on much. I have a project in history on world war 1, and a project in math to do that im so confused on because i am absolutely horrid at math and i hate it. And i also have the wellness goal in health, which probably a lot of the sophomores have to do that too. And back to english class, it will be a easy week in that class, since were just watching the movie i think. So thanks to mr. potter for the easy week in english, and thats one less class i have to think about tomorrow when im doing all those projects. And its been fifteen minutes, so this blog is over.

Well im in a good mood now because my team Syracuse won today in basketball, and yesterday they beat Rutgers in football. Also i went to the buckeyes game, and it was a great game, excluding the first half. And lastly my NFL team the Jacksonville Jaguars had an epic victory over the Texans. So all my teams won this past weekend, and oh ya my least favorite team the Steelers are currently losing to the Patriots. YAY! So back to english class, the 12 angry men test was pretty easy. There were maybe a couple questions i wasn't all that sure about but for the most part i think i knew everything. So hopefully we can see our grades on those tests soon. And i also heard a lot of bad things from friends who had previously read 1 angry men, but i thought it was a pretty descent book. Although the movie was a snoozer. It was actually kind of fun to read some lines in the play 12 angry men too. Like i said in my last blog i enjoyed being juror number 5. So its almost been a5 minutes, and im not really sure what else there is to type about. I guess i hope we do something fun this week in english. I would suppose we start something new. Im ok with any new subject in english just as long as we dont do another research paper any time soon. Oh and also, i thought the To kill a Mockingbird play we got to see ws very good. The cast and crew did a really good job  with that, and i greatly enjoyed it over going to class.

I almost forgot to do this weeks blog, that was a close one. Mr potter never reminds us to do them anymore, so i always forget. But i had a good weekend, and got all my homework done already, so im gonna watch the new family guy once im done with this magnificent writing. So we have been reading 12 angry men in class, and its a descent book. I have been the 5th guy on the jury for the past couple of classes, and i like being him because he has enough lines to not get me bored, but he doesn't have too many lines. Like kristens character #8, has so many lines and i would hate to have that many. And i personally think hes guilty now. After listening to Mr. Potters reasoning i believe that the kid is guilty. Because as much as the people twist the facts, and make it sound believable that he is innocent, you cant bend the facts that much. Unfortunately a friend who has finished the book spoiled the ending for me so i know what happens. I wont say it on here just so i don't spoil it for anyone else. But i think we only have like 3 or 4 more pages in it left. Im pretty happy that it was so short, i like reading short books because then i never really get bored of them like i do with longer books. And i think Mr potter said we get to watch the play or movie, or whatever it is. But hopefully its good, and it will be a good break from reading. And it has been exactly fifteen minutes, and this blog is over.

Well its Sunday morning and unfortunately my mom just woke me up.But on the bright side she made me some pancakes :). Today is going to be strictly business. I need to finish typing my final research paper, i typed a descent amount of it in the writing lab Friday, but i still have a lot of work to do with it. And then i also have to put all my research paper things together nicely in my beautiful purple folder. And after that i have a ridiculously stupid Spanish tres project to do, but its pretty easy. And when im all done with that, i have to put a costume together for the Halloween party my youth group is having. Last year i won the best costume award, with a costume i made in less than 5 minutes, so hopefully i can think of a good idea and make a good costume again that will bring me home all the candy and gift card the winner receives. Okay its been almost fifteen minutes, and i just do not know what else to say. Well i guess the 1st quarter just ended Friday, and this quarter just zipped by. I think i should have an A in English for the first nine weeks, hopefully. Im not looking forward for the next unit in class though. Mr. Potter said we were reading 12 angry men, and from what i have heard from some friends in english classes that have already read it, its aweful. Everbody who i know that has read it says it is extremely boring, and just not a good play at all. But then again, some people said To Kill a Mockingbird was bad, and i enjoyed. So i guess you can not always listen to other peoples opinions about books. Well its been fifteen minutes making this weeks blog officially over. .

Well its time to do yet another blog. This blogs are getting kind of annoying, im not gonna lie. But i guess it is easy points and it's only a fifteen minute homework assignment. Well i just got home from youth group, and this is the last homework i have to do for the weekend , yay. I did my first 2 paragraphs on my research paper, which i am pretty happy i did that, because i finally will not get another late grade on the research paper. I will also have to show Mr. Potter my final copy outline, because i never showed his that. English class has actually  been pretty descent though. I like how all we do is work on our project, it makes it so much more easy because i do not have as much work to do when i get home. My trial is a pretty interesting trial, i never really knew much about the Oklahoma city bombing, since i was only 2 days old when it happen April 19, 1995. My mom said she was just leaving the hospital when she heard about the bombing. Well, it has been a pretty good weekend i had a lot of fun except for today because i was doing English homework all day. But at least our football team won, its about time too. But unfortunately the Yankees lost. :(:( But i guess there is always next season. Well its almost been fifteen minutes, and i am speechless. I guess i can say that i hope this school week goes buy very quick, i have already gotten used to sleeping in till 12 and its only been 2 days. Well now it has officially been fifteen minutes, which declares this blog over.

Its that time gain, for another blog unfortunately. I enjoyed the nice long weekend very much and im saddened that its over, and its Sunday night and i have not done any homework :(.As i sit here feasting upon some bagel bites, i am pondering what to blog about. Well i guess English class has been pretty good this past week. I like just working on our projects in class. I remember last year when we did research papers we never got to go to the library, and never had time in class to work on our projects. So i enjoyed working on it in class very much. My trial, the timothy McVeigh trial is a good trial to do, because its so easy to find information. The databases had loads of info on Timothy McVeigh, and his trial. I also like the way Mr.Potter is checking off the work we have been doing so far, it kinda forces us to actually get work done, which is good for me because i always procrastinate, and his method with the check list is not letting me procrastinate, which is a good thing. And honestly the topic i chose to do my paper on is pretty interesting, and i actually like learning more about it, although i was familiar with the trial i did not know the details about it. Like for example the Oklahoma  bombing took place exactly 2 days from when i was born, which is April 19,1995. I guess you really do learn something new everyday haha. Well i forgot to do my blog again, and im a day late. Darn. But i guess its only 5 points off so its not a huge deal. So the To kill a mockingbird movie was pretty good. I was pretty dated, but i didn't mind it. And i love watching real movies in class because its a nice break from doing work. And when i say real movies i mean like a movie thats not a dumb educational video we watch in history. The to kill a mockingbird test was pretty easy. The multiple choice section was a piece of cake. I think i got all of them right except for maybe one or two questions i guessed on. But im confident i got an A, so hopefully we can see what we got on those soon. Im not really sure what else to talk about, it has not been fifteen minutes yet, i guess i can talk about t he trial research paper. Well about that trial, im doing the Timothy Mcveigh trial. And Timothy Mcveigh was the Oklahoma city bomber. And if you dont know what that is basically he bombed an office building, and day care in Oklahoma City, and he killed over 100 people including i think 19 children. And he did that on April 19,1995. Which is exactly 2  days before i was born. But Back to his trial to sum it all up in one sentance it lasted 6 weeks and he got the death penalty. And obviously there is much more to it, but i just started researching it so i dont know much of the details. And its been fifteen minutes so my 5th blog is officially over. YAY!

4th Blog

Well, this is my 4th blog, and i remembered to do it today, so i am pretty happy. I just finished reading the last chapter of To kill a Mockingbird, and i thought it had a good ending. Although the last chapter was kind of boring it was a good last chapter because the couple of chapters before it were so exciting. And it had a good resolution ending. Overall i really liked the book, and its one of the best books i have ever read for a class. I hope the other books we read in English 10 are as good as To Kill a Mockingbird. I hope we watch the movie, because i have not seen it in so many years, but i remember it being a good movie. I also hope the big test over the whole book this week will be easy. I think it probably will be because all the quizzes have been easy except for the vocab. So if there is vocab on the test i guess i will just have to study that a little so i can do well on the test. Now its almost been fifteen minutes, and i don't know what else i can talk about. Well i guess, thinking back on that drawing we did, after really knowing exactly what Boo looks like my drawing was not all that accurate. But neither was Jem's description of Boo. And it seemed like Jem made Boo seem like some evil guy, when he really was a pretty nice, but shy dude. And not to mention he did save Jem's life so Jem should be pretty grateful to Boo when he wakes up. But i guess we wont know. And now its been 15 minutes. YAY!

I'm in a pretty good mood, because this is the only homework i have to do today and it only takes fifteen minutes. And lately English class has been pretty fun and easy. It so easy because all we have to do is listen to Mr.Potter read the book, and answer the questions. For the most part the questions are really easy anyways. Then reading a chapter at home is not hard either, and i does not mind it really because i enjoy the book, and its definitely one of the better books i have had to read for an English class. It seems like all the other books I have had to read for school are always pretty boring. We also only had like one or two quizzes this past week too, and the quizzes are really easy, except for i always mess up the vocabulary. I hope we do something as fun as this unit as once were done reading To kill a Mockingbird, and i also hope we watch the movie, because i have not seen it in a long time, and it was good. I do not think it followed the book that well, but i do not really remember it. Well those fifteen minutes flew by, and now my third blog post is complete. YAY.

I'm kinda upset right now, because i completely forgot that we had a blog due last night. So I'm doing it now, and unfortunately I will be deducted five points. I am also kinda upset right now, because i have a lot more homework to do, and i just want to go play some Halo Reach, which by the way is a great game, and i highly recommend it. But back to English, To Kill a Mockingbird is a pretty good book. So far i think its good, and i don't really mind reading it. I have already seen the movie tho, so i know what happens, and how it ends. But its still a good book, and its better than the movie so far. Answering the questions in the packet, is also very easy, especially when Mr. Potter reads to us. I like class when we just read the book, because the book is actually good, and there is only like eight questions at most. Also reading at home isnt all that bad either, usually i hate reading, but i dont mind reading one chapter of To Kill a Mockingbird. Which reminds me i need to read chapter eight today, and answer the questions, and study the vocab for the quiz tomorrow. Well its been fifteen minutes. So this blog is officially over. :D

Well, this is my first blog and I'm not really sure what to write about, but i guess just anything about English class. so the short stories were alright, but i hate poems. I just think they are ridiculously boring to read, and very annoying to write. But those questions we had to answer about the poems were pretty easy for the most part, and we could work in groups which made it very easy. And after i finish this fun blog, i plan on finishing my essay. My topic is then death penalty. Which is a pretty easy topic for me, because last year in speech class i did a debate on the death penalty. So that will be pretty easy to finish. Overall i think English 10 is a pretty good class, at least a lot better than my English 9 class. And Mr. Potter is a pretty cool teacher. And i already kinda like English as a subject, except when we read boring books, like romeo and Juliet, which is one of the reasons why i disliked English 9. But hopefully this will be a good year of English. and now it has been about fifteen minutes, and this blog assignment wasn't so bad at all.
